vRA and Infoblox Integration

Hi,

Today we will integrate Infoblox IPAM with vRealize Automation.

Infoblox Configuration

  1. We will need to deploy the Infoblox Appliance to our VMware environment
  2. Make initial network configuration.
  3. Login to the web-interface
  4. The Installation Wizard will start automatically. In this case we configure it as a standalone appliance.
  5. Assign the IP address and the FQDN.
  6. Change the admin password
  7. Add NTP server.
  8. Review and press Finish
  9. Now we have to Setup GRID.
  10. Set a GRID name and other requested info
  11. Set the IP Addresses
  12. If you want to change password do it.
  13. Confirm that the correct NTP chosen.
  14. Review and Finish
  15. Now we need to goto Administration->Extensible Attributes
  16. Add the required for vRA attributes
  17. Go To Data Management and add Subnet.
  18. We need to create cloudadmin account which will work with cloud-api (don’t forget to apply the cloud automation license to Infoblox)
  19. I give full permission to cloud-api-only as it is in test environment.
  20. Add Microsoft Servers so we can get the AD-Integrated DNS Synced.

Installation of vRO Plug-in

  1. SSH or Console to your vRA Appliance and start vco-configurator service as it is disabled by default.
  2. Go To vRO Control Center
  3. Use your Credentials.
  4. Go To Manage Plug-Ins
  5. Browse to your Plugin and press Install. Don’t Forget to save changes.
  6. Now we need to add Infoblox Certificate to the trusted store of vRO.
  7. Simply Import it from the infobox URL
  8. Now we are ready to go to vRO
  9. Browse through the library to Infoblox ->vRA->Installation->Setup Wizard
  10. I have vRA and IaaS Hosts already added to vRO. And it is not needed to  add them once again.

Creation of Endpoint in vRA

  1. Create new Endpoint IPAM->Infoblox. Use cloudadmin account we created in the first section and go to properties and add new: Infoblox.IPAM.APIType = Cloud API
  2. Create new External  Network Profile
  3. Choose Infoblox as an EndPoint. In Network Ranges you will see the Infoblox Range you already created choose it.
  4. Go to Reservations and edit the one where you want to Add Infoblox.
  5. In network tab choose Network Profile ->Infoblox.

After this steps are done we can use this profile in Blueprints.

Hope this was informative.
